HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ORGANIZING SESSIONS
JUST IMAGINE…
what it feels like knowing exactly where to put things because everything has a home.
opening a closet without stuff falling on you.
how much better it will feel when you can find the things you’re missing.
DO
DO Charge Your Batteries: The process of getting organized can at times be draining both physically + emotionally which is why it's always best if you're well rested for our home organizing sessions. Whether you've booked a morning or an afternoon session, make sure you've recently eaten a well balanced meal + have a few healthy snacks on hand. This way, when you're feet hit the ground, you'll be ready to declutter the areas of your home your heart so deeply desires.
DO Dress Casually: Since we'll be moving lots around + kicking up dust there's absolutely no need to impress us, dress in comfortable clothes that we can get down to business in. Something to think about is, if we'll be tackling garage organization or your basement, I'd suggest wearing something that you don't mind getting dirty...
DO Minimize Distractions: To maximize our time together eliminate as many outside distractions as possible (ex. work, emails, calls or visitors etc.) While I absolutely looooove children, I've found that it can be some-what challenging for clients to stay focused when there are interruptions.
DON'T
DON’T Tidy Up: As your organizing bff, our goal is to help you create a home that truly conforms to you, your family + the way everyday life unfolds which is why I need you to resist the urge to tidy up before we get there. Because we need to see life as it naturally unfolds. Don’t do this wink.
DON’T Go Shopping: while I know you’re anxious to get started I need you to hit the brakes before hopping in the car + heading to the container store because as part of your membership, we’re going to coordinate all the nitty-gritty details + do all of the containerizing for you! From baskets, bins + drawer dividers to shelving units, wall hooks + labels for them all –– we'll identify exactly what storage solutions you need.
DON’T Apologize: It's easy to feel embarrassed about any mess, big or small, but there's no reason for you to apologize... we’ve seen it all before, you're not alone + we're in this to help you. Life happens to all of us + this is a #judgementfreezone.
DON’T Be Nervous: Getting organized + decluttering your life is one of the best decisions you've made because you're investing in yourself. You've committed to prioritizing your mental clarity * you go boo! * As personal organizers, we find this process incredibly soothing. In fact, we love coming up with organization ideas.
We’ve spent time studying the mental + emotional triggers that anchor us to all of our belongings + we know exactly how clutter affects your life. Together, my job as your professional home organizer is to uncover the root-cause of the clutter in your home + then help you identify easy to maintain routines that will keep you organized.
