The Kirkland House: Master Bathroom Remodel

Slate floors, a standing tub, and chrome fixtures make this master bathroom remodel in Kirkland, Washington absolutely pop.

SAY HELLO TO THE KIRKLAND HOUSE — MASTER BATHROOM REMODEL.

Psst... Have you peeped the kitchen remodel or the living room, yet?

Say hello to the gorgeous the Kirkland House master bath remodel.

While there are a lot of things this part of your home should do for you –– one thing we believe (which is often overlooked) is that your master bathroom should feel like a binge-worthy escape from everyday life... that effortlessly sweeps you off your feet.

Without a worry in the world, it should feel more like a modern-day spa experience.

And we were over the moon when our clients wanted our help reimaging their master bathroom.

Riddled with outdated details + a ton of beige, our goal was to breathe new life into this corner of their home + to make it feel calm, clean, stylish. Oh… and did we mention relaxed?

Building off of other spaces we designed throughout the rest of their home –– we went with soft neutrals, a similar color palette to the downstairs.

Ultimately, our vision for the Kirkland House master bathroom was new but timeless. Modern yet classic. Sophisticated yet lived in.

Luckily, the vanity was in great condition - but like their old kitchen it was Cherry which is a style our clients were very much over. Realizing the master bathroom was one of the darkest rooms in the house,  we paired an all-white vanity with gorgeous countertops that had us swooning the moment we laid eyes on it.

Before styling the vanity with a warm wood tray, greenery + a yummy scented candle that’s to-die-for. Our goal was to fill the space with as much natural light as possible.  Which is why we designed a custom oversized mirror + added yet another layer of luxe, by choosing polished nickel fixtures throughout.

Hands down, all-white spaces are gorgeous. They feel crisp + clean while also creating a feeling of limitless space. But lets not kid ourselves… too much of a good thing can be off putting. So to keep this stunning space from feeling uncomfortable, we created a cozy contrast. Because the earthy vibe + natural biophilic colors of these slate floors is as calming to the soul as it is underfoot.

Realizing with so many hard surfaces, large bathrooms have a tendency to feel slightly cold which is why, adding an area rug in the master bathroom is a must. Because it’s a great way to create warmth while layering in even more softness and texture.

Originally, this bathroom had a built-in tub that was *gasp!* adjoined to the shower.

And to help improve the overall flow of this room, we tweaked the layout a bit, removed the tiled tub deck surround + installed a free-standing tub and faucet. We draped linens over the side of the bathtub which is what I like to call one of those “come hither details.”

With so much extra space between the newly expanded shower and bubble massage bathtub, we absolutely love the étagère shelves nestled perfectly beneath the window. From crisp folded towels to gorgeous glass canisters filled with soaps + bath salts galore –– everything your heart could possibly desire is within reach.

Last but not least, their oversized walk-in shower is breathtaking! The frameless shower glass door (which is oh so lovely) makes this corner of the Kirkland House master bathroom feel both stunning + spacious.

We chose a rainfall shower fixture with smooth lines in polished nickel to tie in with the hardware we selected for the vanity. Not to mention, the shower fixture is accented by this slightly unexpected dimensional subway tile. Handcrafted simple + absolutely gorgeous!

Then to layer in even more luxe, we designed a built-in shower bench –– that’s heated –– talk about intuitive + functional bliss!! But the reality is, the secret to creating a spa-like escape is embellishments + bath accessories which is so we styled this area of the shower with a posh slate tray, opulent product dispensers + some much needed greenery.

To finish this shower off, we found this absolutely gorgeous mosaic marble tile. What’s not to love about it’s timelessness + the classic hexagon pattern?! It not only helps modernizes the room but it compliments the dark slate floors and plays nicely with the veining in the vanity countertop.
