The Kirkland House: Guest Bathroom Remodel
SAY HELLO TO THE KIRKLAND HOUSE — GUEST BATHROOM REMODEL.
If you haven’t already met the Kirkland House, I’d like to introduce you to the guest bathroom remodel.
Because when it comes to being hospitable, there are a handful of boxes your guest bathroom should check. Beyond having fancy towels + an extra roll of toilet paper –– it should feel tidy + clean while still maintaining a welcoming + stylish vibe.
For our clients, when it came to remodeling their guest bathroom, it was also important that it felt a bit youthful since their teenage daughter would be the main person using this space.
But when it came to design, the Calacatta floor tile installed in this bathroom instantly became the star of the show. Sophisticated yet unexpected, we knew we needed an element that would help create some serious wow-factor (without going over the top) because as you walk upstairs, you’ll find that the guest bathroom is the first thing you see!
And while it’s the only place in their home, where this much pattern exists –– timeless beauty is always a good option.
Similar to the kitchen + master bathroom, we knew going into this project that we’d be painting the existing cabinets. Establishing a bright + airy feel, we wanted this space to tie in with other areas of their home –– but for it to feel confident + unique enough to stand on its own!
Beyond the swoon-worthy marble floors, there needed to be a level of stop + stare tranquility.
Which is why we selected a soft grey countertop made of quartz, that emulates the variegated characteristics of limestone but is still low-maintenance.
Psst… look at that stunning bathroom faucet.
As you can see, we didn’t have a ton of space, so to elevate the overall look + feel of this guest bathroom, we chose exceptional pieces. Materials and finishes that would truly stand out!
Like the custom oversized bathroom mirror to help keep it simple and a gorgeous white + polished nickel sconce which helps to dress it up a bit. It’s not only bold + a little bit sassy but it’s very feminine which works, oh so elegantly.
To add another layer of warmth, inspired by the countertops + calacatta floors, we went with soft greige for both the shower curtain (which is extra long to give the illusion of height) and bath towels.
Finally, we styled this space with a handful of meaningful pieces, decorative accents + some greenery. Because bathrooms, especially those with limited space, have a tendency to fall a bit flat when it comes to design + sometimes even too utilitarian.
However by taking things one step at a time + being intentional when it comes to the details, decorative accents can really go a long way in terms of breathing new life into a space.
