The Kirkland House: Kitchen Remodel
SAY HELLO TO THE KIRKLAND HOUSE.
Say hello to this come-hither Kirkland House kitchen remodel.
While we’ve touched quite a few areas of this home, the relaxed yet elevated kitchen remodel is without question, at the heart of it all.
And like many homeowners, during Seattle’s crazy housing market, our clients were left contemplating –– should we sell or remodel?
So when they decided, as a family, that the best move for them was to hunker back into the place they had called home for over a decade we were over-the-moon when they looked to us for guidance in helping them transform their humble craftsman-style home into their very own guilty pleasure.
After reimagining their kitchen we uncovered the deeply rooted emotions they wanted to embody in this area of their home + all the amazing family experiences they wanted to have here.
Our client’s wanted a kitchen that was modern yet classic.
Sophisticated yet lived in.
New but timeless.
Having lived with red-cherry cabinets since they purchased their home, they were certain that the moody vibe of dark kitchen cabinetry wasn’t for them any longer but they weren’t all in on an all-white kitchen, either.
The color palette we decided on was light and airy, soft yet neutral, using pops of color as a slight contrast. These kept the kitchen feeling warm + bright while also feeling intimately unique when compared to all the kitchens they’d seen while shopping for a new home.
The dark gray countertops command attention but are well balanced by warm white shaker-style cabinets. A simple nod to the client’s longing for a modern yet classic kitchen.
At the top of their wishlist, our clients wanted a backsplash that was subtle, sophisticated + unique (without going over the top!). Which is how we landed on the timeless herringbone marble tile. You’ll notice the carerra marbling was consistent with our light + airy color palette but if you look closely, you’ll notice that it has a dark gray veining that adds a layer of luxury while effortlessly complementing those gorgeous countertops.
We decided that hardware + accessories should be in brushed nickel. However, wanting to add a bit of drama to the details of this timeless kitchen –– we chose a high-end touchless kitchen faucet for convenience (talk about thinking ahead for what you need!)
Yet, the best part of the Kirkland House kitchen remodel may very well be… okay I’ll let you decide what the best part of this kitchen is but my lawwwd, take a look at those pendants!
When it came to styling this kitchen, our goal was to breathe new life into the kitchen while staying true to the original bones of the home. We wanted to compliment those hardwood floors by introducing simple lush greenery + wooden accents like cutting boards + kitchen utensils to those gorgeous countertops.
As for the upper cabinetry with glass-inserts, we wanted them to feel elegantly subdued while also clean + organized. So, we used all white plates + bowls with dinnerware that had luxe lines + simple curvature.
To finish off the Kirkland House kitchen remodel, we went with comfortable counter stools that were upholstered in a soft neutral fabric. And while it helped us create a comforting sense of continuity between the kitchen + the family room, let’s not overlook the subtle nailhead trim details… sigh!
